Part of the fun of enjoying a meal is dressing for it. The right outfit sets the mood. I think the food just tastes better when I’m dressed appropriately for the occation. My ensemble for a night out with the girls is very different from the one I would wear to a Sunday boozy brunch. Here, I’ll show you how I style myself for all sorts of different meals.
If you’re gonna go out in Murray Hill, you may as well look the part: that means black leggings and some tall shoes. The Hill is not my favorite place in my neighborhood. It’s pretty bro-y and the food is pretty terrible. They do, however, have a great deal (an entrée and 2-hour open bar for $45) and semi-private area upstairs that makes it great for birthdays. When you get to take over an area like that with both the drinks and music flowing, you’ll have a good time.
I have never actually owned a pair of black leggings. They always seemed to trendy for my classic/preppy style, but I figured for $30 I could try them on for size. I bought these from Zara ($29.90) and paired them with strappy sandals with a slight platform (Nine West, old, but I think around $40). On top, I wore a lightly patterned breezy peach tank (~$30) and layered two different gold necklaces (~$14 each). I got the top and both necklaces at a great DC boutique called Violet. The final piece of jewelry was a cuff with large black “stone” from Charming Charlie (~$8). Finally, I tossed on an old leather jacket (TJ Maxx) and carried a simple black clutch (Kate Spade Saturday).
